ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct the company’s legal strategy while anticipating, managing and reducing areas of legal and business risk.
  • Provide strategic and tactical legal advice in connection with the drafting, negotiation, and review of a wide variety of agreements including: licensing agreements, joint venture agreements, service agreements, finance agreements, purchase and sale agreements, and development agreements.
  • Representing the organization in the negotiation and administration of contracts, including all changes, modifications, and disputes.
  • Providing legal guidance and counsel relative to intellectual property including patent, trade-mark, and copyright matters.
  • Identify, evaluate and manage outside counsel as a complement our internal resources.
  • Research and remain current with federal, state, and local judicial decisions, laws, and other regulations affecting the organizations operations and provide appropriate guidance to ensure compliance.
  • Providing legal counsel in a wide variety of matters including litigation, employment, environment, intellectual property, real estate, M&A, health and safety, finance/tax, corporate policies and procedures/governance, and procurement.

 

Job Requirements

 REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Juris Doctor degree with excellent academic credentials from a top law school strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of extensive transactional experience working either in-house, within a major law firm or combination thereof.
  • Relevant CPG experience preferred.

  • Ability to articulate concise and logical thoughts along with strong organizational, interpersonal, management, negotiation, communication (both oral and written), analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must exhibit professional and managerial skills in a complex and dynamic organization along with the leadership traits and personal characteristics that are necessary for success in senior management.
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive can-do attitude and sound judgment including the ability to develop creative solutions to challenging problems.
  • Ability to establish priorities for the legal team and execute against those priorities.
  • Ability to lead, influence and motivate your team and to act as a catalyst for change.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, growing and dynamic environment with integrity, patience and a sense of humor.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to meet job demands.
