This description represents the most significant job duties but does not exclude other work duties assigned or required but not mentioned, the inclusion of which could be any department within Link Snacks.

 

Perform repetitive duties to include receiving raw meat for processing, setup and operate cutting, mixing, and packaging machinery, loading meat racks, pushing meat trucks from one area to another, operating smokehouses, visually monitoring meat for quality, receiving cooked meat for processing, visually monitoring meat packaging process, counting and placing packages in appropriate caddies, maintaining accurate records, washing and sanitizing carts, racks and trucks, rotating to other areas of the department, and maintaining housekeeping.

 

Work from operational instructions.

 

Use common hand tools, cleaning materials, and motorized equipment.

Job Requirements

Education or Trade Knowledge

Read, write, add, subtract, count and record numbers, follow and comprehend instructions, and operate machinery.

Experience

Over 1 and up to 3 weeks to become familiar with plant operations, associated equipment, and procedures with individual learning times of 1 to 2 days.

Initiative and Ingenuity

Repetitive work. Routine duties to inspect, load, position parts, handle materials, and operate various machinery. Able to comprehend directions for machine assembly and disassembly and able to assemble and disassemble machinery. Able to keep accurate and detailed records. Able to comprehend and follow all safety and operational rules set forth by Link Snacks.

Physical Demand

Moderate to considerable physical effort frequently working with average to heavy materials > 50 pounds, ability to lift 30 pounds overhead and push carts up to 1000 pounds on wheels. Requires the ability to bend and reach, move at a steady pace, stand, and walk on hard or concrete surfaces for entire shift. Requires ability to grasp, use hands and wrists, and good hand/eye coordination. Requires ability to move from 30-160°F environments, ability to wear hearing protection, disposable gloves, and all other Personal Protective Equipment as instructed.  

Mental and/or Visual Demand

Continuous mental and visual attention to the flow of work and requires continuous alertness and activity, checking for quality specification, and visual sorting.

Responsibility for Work

of Others

Responsible for the safety of yourself and others. Responsible for own work but able to work in a team environment.

Working Conditions

Exposure to machine noise, raw meat, processed meat, water and spices. The environment is normally 30-55°F. Smokehouse temperatures reach 160°F.  Requires ability to move at a steady pace, stand, and walk on hard or concrete surfaces, ability to use stairs and ladders, work on elevated work platforms, push/pull heavy carts, shovel meat, lift overhead, operate a pallet jack, forklift and man lift.

Hazards

Exposed to grinding, slicing, stuffing and moving equipment, smoke, and heavy moving carts, racks and trucks.
