JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The Logistics Coordinator is responsible to administrate, coordinate and manage efficient and cost effective transportation services while meeting internal and external customer needs.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Determine delivery methods, negotiate rates, select carriers, coordinate deliveries and evaluate carrier performance.
  • Maintain communication with Plant / DC locations, Customer Service, Inventory and carriers to ensure proper execution of transportation plans.
  • Coordinate with customer service representatives on exceptions, rush orders and order changes.
  • Prioritize job responsibilities.
  • Identify and resolve Transportation pricing and delivery issues to maintain positive customer relations.
  • Identify and evaluate mode of transportation (load planning), possible freight negotiations and carrier assignments based on customer requests and expectations.
  • Analyze existing shipping processes for improvements and provide support.
  • Proactively provide problem resolution for internal and external customers.
  • Support shipping locations with carrier selection, trailer pool coordination, rush shipment arrangements, and problem resolution.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  •      Required Education:    High School Diploma (or equivalent). Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office and SAP

 

Preferred:

  • Transportation / logistics experience preferred
  • Understanding of LTL (less-than-truckload), TL (Truckload) & Parcel transportation
  • SAP/ SCALE knowledge: 1 - 3 years

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES:

  • Multi-tasking capabilities
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent knowledge of computer applications; Microsoft Office
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

 

Physical, Mental, and Visual Skills:

  • Must have strong organizational skills
  • Must communicate well with others
  • Must hear and speak well enough to converse with employees, must see well enough to read reports, bill of ladings, etc
  • Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours per day
  • Computers: Must have the capacity to understand and use computer software programs utilized by the company

Working Conditions:

Work in a climate-controlled office environment with exposure to a normal distribution environment with moving power equipment and occasional noise.
