Job Description

Position Purpose: Use your analytical purchasing expertise to manage all purchasing activities of all capital assets, parts, and tools to maximize equipment reliability.

 

General Accountabilities:                                  

  • Provide hands on leadership to the facility maintenance team that is responsible for preventative maintenance and repair of physical plant equipment.
  • Purchases and negotiates with vendors for maintenance parts and supplies
  • Receives orders and grants approval for purchase of goods or services.
  • Reviews vendor requests for pricing and makes recommendations for part purchases.
  • Selects vendors of maintenance services. Evaluates vendor's performance and makes recommendations for continuing with vendor.
  • Oversees parts operations including accounting, parts systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Manage maintenance data collection and information gathering to more effectively provide the planned maintenance and emergency maintenance activities.
  • Participates in the development and training of software programs for inventory management and queries data as required.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and executes action plans to reduce parts costs and improve efficiencies.
  • Analyze inventory levels of current stock keeping abreast of changes affecting both the supply of, and demand for, needed products and materials.
  • Analyzes changes or new issues in materials and supplies to find ways to reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for all employees. Follow and enforce good safety practices.
  • Develop & schedule preventative maintenance & repairs for all equipment maintenance, cleaning, & installation using Proteus software and in coordination with Scheduling.
  • Requisition tools, equipment and supplies for required operations.
  • Control equipment and supply expenses
  • Confer with management and suppliers to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment

Job Requirements

Skills Required:

  • BS in Purchasing, Business, Transportation, preferred
  • 2-4 years of purchasing, scheduling, or equipment maintenance  experience
  • Experience working with software systems
  • Food processing equipment experience/knowledge, preferred.
  • PC skills including:  Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet usage. 
  • Excellent communication skills and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to maintain and handle multiple functions/ tasks relating to the day to day operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to diplomatically communicate needs and recommendations.
  • Communication skills that ensure personal credibility and effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated proactive style that ensures the completion of projects despite obstacles.
  • Actively seeks to utilize a “Collaborative Team Approach” in all situations.
  • Continually strives to influence a positive company culture and leads by example.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to stand and walk for majority of shift.
  • The ability to sit for extended periods.
  • The ability to lift 25 lbs occasionally.
  • The ability to bend, twist, and kneel repeatedly for long period of time.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.
