 The Master Data Business Analyst (BA) is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving Master Data quality data reports and KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) to ensure data integrity, and data accuracy. In addition, this position performs research and analysis on master file requests and ensures compliance and changes are made in accordance with business policies and procedures.

The BA will be responsible for providing a variety of project management functions including: business requirements gathering, business process documentation, training/documentation creation and other related work responsibilities as required. BA will work to ensure that business process outcomes are in harmony with an organization's strategic goals, and work collaboratively across all departments of the organization to help improve Master Data processes and accuracy.


The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Define, develop, champion best practices for Master Data for SAP MM and APO
  • Responsible for updating SAP ECC material master, BOM, and recipes
  • Evaluate business gaps and process requirements for users/functions
  • Evaluate business application modification requests
  • Recommend and implement business process modifications
  • Create specifications for custom integration needs and data loads
  • Create and maintains Master Data Governance processes, policies and procedures
  • Manage, ensure and approve all systems requests
  • Work with IT to review SAP configuration options and identify most appropriate solutions
  • Identify reporting needs and proper utilization of data warehouse capabilities to turn data into business intelligence
  • Work with IT to execute test plans
  • Define applications security needs and work closely with IT Security to determine Master Roles within the system
  • Work with the Master Data team to automate processes
  • Develop training materials, work aids, and process flows
  • Assist the MD Lead on conducting training sessions
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
  • Minimal travel may be required

Job Requirements

To be successful in this role you should possess the following education, experiences and skills: 

  • 4-year degree in Business, IT, MIS, etc; will consider the equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3+ years hands-on SAP Master Data and SAP MM
  • Familiar to testing and test documentation using proper procedures
  • Familiarity with Lean Improvement tools, processes and best practices
  • Knowledge with process specific KPI’s and analytics
  • Proficient in scoping, planning, and estimating tasks.
  • Proficient in building and documenting processes
  • Proficient in Master Data mining and analysis
  • Proficient in conducting meetings
  • Proficient in scoping, planning, and estimating tasks
  • Expert in defining detailed business requirements
  • Ability to effectively communicate and train
