The Vice President, Strategic Growth Initiatives, will play an essential role in helping Jack Link’s build upon its rich history of delivering innovative meat snack products to enable people to feed their wild side anywhere anytime. This individual will lead a team of innovation managers and work closely with the marketing, R&D, & Operations teams as well as outside Co-manufacturers to develop and drive innovation across the Jack Link’s House of Brands in service of creating long-term sustainable growth for the organization.

This is a unique role in the organization which requires a blending of both “left-brain” and “right-brain” skills and interests. It requires a flexible thinker and outstanding communicator who is comfortable working cross-functionally and influencing different personalities and perspectives, and who is able to balance creativity with business rigor and operational discipline. The individual will work closely across various functional areas, including marketing, manufacturing, process and packaging engineering, product design and development to create a portfolio of innovative products across multiple dimensions, ranging from near-term business plans to a multi-year strategic roadmap.

The role will specifically enable Jack Link’s to enter new categories across different consumer need states and occasions. In addition, this role will play an integral part in guiding the broader portfolio of innovation including new technical capabilities and platforms. The role reports directly to the Chief Marketing Officer.

Specifically, this person will: 

  • Develop and refine the product strategy and innovation roadmap and ensure alignment to the business and brand strategy.
  • Determine a roadmap for realistic strategy implementation, engaging all key stakeholders in the vision and plans.
  • Oversee all consumer insight generation and validation testing
  • Develop sound business cases and ensure the commercial viability of all ideas
  • Work closely with R&D team to ensure adequate ability to bring innovation to scale including supply chain development/management, manufacturing, and consumer communication.
  • Aid in identifying new technologies and innovation that could lead to breakthrough ingredient/product development and commercial success.
  • Identify and work directly with co-manufacturers to aid in speed to market
  • Strong communication skills; can make the complex easy to understand.
  • Approachable and receptive of ideas, a degree of risk-taking, and “out of the box” thinking.



Job Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have the following education, experience and skills: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree, MBA Preferred
  • 15+ years of innovation/brand management/business management experience
  • Passion for innovative out of the box thinking
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of marketing and finance, P & L management,
  • Ability to identify and work directly with co-manufacturers
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, and personal sales skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter who is motivated in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally to lead programs, analyze data and drive results in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment
  • Accomplished track record of working with an R&D team within an innovation-led company.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Scientific and Regulatory Affairs, Analytical, Quality and Food Safety, Legal) and business units to accomplish critical projects.
  • Ability to think and act globally to support an internationalization strategy.
  • Demonstrated leadership of a team and delivery of results.
